April 2008, shooting around the base of the Eifell tower, we saw these soldiers on patrol. They were not just your regular grunts, but highly trained in counter-terrorist operations. They walked with an air of power about them held only by men who know how to apply, and are prepared to use, maximum amount of force to achieve an outcome.

Being very handsome, they’d occasionally get stopped by cute and giggling tourist girls for photos. They put on smiles for those photographs like the smiles you see in photos of your relatives that don’t want to be at Christmas lunch with you.

Forgive the finger on the lens, I was trying to be covert.

Australia, your two favourite things are now melded together as one.
Daryl Hall (the Hall part of Hall and Oates), and Chromeo, (the only ever Jew-Arab band that you can dance to like crazy) recorded and episode of “Live at Daryl’s House” recently.
Bands turn up and Jam with Daryl Hall in his home.

It’s un-fukcing-believable.

Click it and dig it.

If you get bored, just click on “Tenderoni”.

Truly an awesome idea.

Hooray for the internets.

I’m currently doing the voice over for the new series of Bondi Rescue: Bali.
It’s amazing footage and I think you’ll really dig the drama and stories from this fabulous island.

It inspired me to dig out my Bali photos from my trip last year.

Enjoy.

Most things I couldn’t be bothered to do for any great length of time.
This artist however, is the exact opposite.

Mind-boggling animation from Buenos Aires.

There’s a belief amongst many indigenous peoples of the world that if you take a photo of them, you will steal a part of their soul.
As someone who takes a lot of photographs, I feel there’s a small amount of truth to this.

The exchange between photographer and subject in my view must always be a respectful one, never and exploitative one.
The intention of the photographer is also vitally important. (Think Bill Henson Scandal earlier this year)

It is with this in mind that I ask you to read and reflect on the following news story:

“Oscar-winning actor Morgan Freeman, currently starring in the Batman movie The Dark Knight, was in serious condition in hospital Monday after a car accident in Mississippi where witnesses said he had to be freed with the Jaws of Life….When one person tried to snap a photo with a cellphone camera, Freeman joked, “no freebies, no freebies,”.” (Associated Press)

The man is seriously injured and trapped in his car, being freed with the Jaws of Life, and someone sticks a phone camera in his face?

Reportage or just plain disrespectful?

Thoughts?
