I interviewed Panic At the Disco today.
I was mightily impressed with the exquisite musicianship of their new album.
Truly superb.
I was also truly blown away with how incredibly talented, friendly and young they were.
I think all of them were born after I started high school.
I was also super-stoked that they were fully into Silverchair’s last two albums, which you can REALLY hear on their new record.
All this listening to that kind of music gave me a hankering for what it sounded like for me the first time around.
Behold.
Nick Cave in 1979, at Twenty Two, being as fabulously morose and hot and amazing and just great.
I fuckin’ love this song.
Please enjoy, before emo, (*not that PATD are emo, though it all reminded me of Nick) there was always Nick Cave, firstly with the Boys Next Door, then The Birthday Party, Then The Bad Seeds, and sometimes The Dirty Three and Kylie Minogue (I’m sure I’ve missed a few).
Oh how I love this song.
One of the best anti-love songs ever, ever written.
I hope Brandon et al. cover it soon.
xx aa
PJ Harvey being one of those you missed!
I haven’t seen that clip in ages. Thanks for posting.
After seeing Rufus Wainwright 3 times on his recent tour – he very nearly surpassed my idol, Nick – but after that, my one and only remains – he cuts it deeper for me every time!
Also I love that you ‘fucking love this song’ it is fucking good to fucking love Nick.
