So busy – I suck – so here’s a quick one…

I was really sick. Three days of 39.5C fevers, hallucinations etc.

I was so sick I called in ill to network television.

I was so sick I didn’t go snowboarding – that’s freakin sick.

My ex came around straight away to bring me food/vitamins/water hugs etc. I had a mate Alison bring over a Vat of lentil soup and play scrabble with me. My other mates just dropped in to hang out.

That’s what made me better, not the drugs.

Gotta split. So sorry I can’t write more – please email!

Great food, great albums, great guns..

Hi folks, hope this finds you well.

Here’s a few things that I learned this week.

1: I usually can’t stand email sign-offs, the little signature that people put on the bottom of emails, most often a hilarious jape like “I pretend to work – they pretend to pay me” etc. A fabulous young lady wrote the other day with a re-working of the gem “Work Like you don’t need the money, love like you’ll never get hurt, dance like no-one is watching and F**k like you’re being filmed’. Fabulous huh?

2: Going to the pub to hang with my friends was interesting again this week. If you want to say hi to me, just come over. You don’t need to grab my shirt and drag me around, that’s just kinda creepy.

3: Freeways are fun. I drove down to Nowra the other morning, on the south coast from Sydney. It was a six hour ’round trip. I tell you, opening the car up and overtaking farm machinery on corners at 120km/h may be illegal and irresponsible, but crikey it was fun. It’s a great way to listen to music too, I got through Frank Zappa’s ‘Joes Garage, Acts I, II and III’ in the one drive. Brilliant album it is!

4: It’s important to surround yourself with great people, they rub off on you. We are only great because those around us are great. I caught up with a mate that I went to music college with last night. He’s a freakin’ genius. Turned me on to so much music he did. Such a great songwriter, so passionate, so brilliant. He’s two years older than me, a father of SIX kids and owns five houses. I’m inspired to be around him. Great to see you Kris

Gotta split, hope you’re well, thanks for the email!

Pub trouble

Pub troubles, brilliant brothers and Nashville Pussy…

My Job..

So I love my job – love it. I get paid to talk about music and engage people about their musical passions. I didn’t just arrive here, it’s my tenth year in broadcasting this year! Cool huh. That’s ten years of six and seven day weeks – but crikey I love it. I realise that when you put yourself on the telly/radio some people will like what you do, and others won’t. That’s fine with me – there’s heaps of people in the public eye that I approve of and also disapprove of. I realise that sometimes those who don’t like what I do will come up to my face and let me know  – and that’s cool, it’s part of my job. Saturday night was a rough one, I was at the pub and a few folks weren’t backward in coming forward in telling me how much of a c**t I am. That’s fine, I am aware that with my job comes the joy of hearing this kind of feedback in a public place. Seeing my friends deal with it is another matter though – sometimes I have to restrain them. What would you do if a complete stranger walked right up to your mate and started screaming in his face? It’s interesting. I wonder how these people would react if I did the same to them. Once again I don’t mind it – it’s a part of my job and that’s ok.

Idol is kicking in hard.. Rehearsal today – off to the studio now to get ready for the big record on Thursday.

[v] is so huge in the next few weeks – I love it. You’ll love it more! So many bands coming on so much happening. Can’t wait for the streets on Friday!

Can’t stop listening to Nashville Pussy – both ‘High as Hell’ and ‘Say something Nasty’ oohhh I love that band. Hot stripper looking girls who play mean guitars and sing songs about drinking  – two current fave songs are ‘You give drugs a bad name’ and ‘I’m gunn hitchhike down to Cincinnatti and kick the shit out of your drunk daddy’. Killer.

Had the best surf of my life the other day – the wave was all green and fabulous. And I drove a friends’ Honda S2000. Jeepers, it’s a freakin’ rocket ship! When I handed the car back to its’ owner, we drove very, very, V E R Y fast through suburban 50km/h zones. I was sitting on a golf ball I tell you. Crikey it’s a fast car.

Big shout this week to my brothers, David the super big gun corporate lord that he is in Brisbane, Martin, sending me MMS messages from blues bars in Houston and then texting me from Paris two days later, and Ed the homeowner (he’s 22!), cycling 45kms a day and rocking the marketing teams’ socks up there in Brio De Janero. I love you so much..

Take care, ‘tll soon my friends –
